DEXTER, MI - The Chelsea Varsity Girls Golf team delivered its best match of the year today, pulling off a thrilling double-upset against both Dexter and Saline at Hudson Mills Golf Course. In a remarkably tight contest, Chelsea captured first place with a team score of 193, edging past second-place Dexter (195) by two strokes, while Saline finished third with a 214. Leighton Diesing spearheaded Chelsea's historic win by carding a team-best round of 44. Charley Cigan posted a strong 48, and both Hannah Beda and Juliette Beda contributed matching scores of 50 to complete the winning lineup. Head Coach Joe Ewald highlighted the mental toughness required to pull off the victory: "This was huge for our girls, just to get them to believe they are good enough. They go into matches thinking every team is better than them but this shows if we play the way we are capable, we can compete with some pretty good teams! I am super proud of them and that even though they all had tough holes and it could have easily gone the other way, they found a way to keep moving forward, and kept the round together!" Building on this milestone win, Chelsea will look to keep their momentum going as they travel to Tecumseh for an SEC White matchup on Monday, September 21st.
