Girls Track Picks Up Wins Against Adrian and Lincoln

On Tuesday, April 14, the Chelsea Girls Track & Field team hosted both Ypsilanti Lincoln and Adrian in their second SEC White conference competition of the season. The Bulldogs competed fiercely and were able to finish the day with two well earned wins. Chelsea defeated Lincoln 72 to 64 and Adrian 86 to 51. Chelsea girls are now 2-2 in the SEC White conference. Some notable performances include: ● Alli Harms, sophomore, placed second in the discus with a personal best throw of 83’ 8” and third in the shot put with a throw of 30’ 5” ● Gabby Ferrell, freshman, won the long jump with a distance of 14’ 8” ● Karlie VanRemortel (senior captain), Lissa Krueger (senior captain), and Tess Smith swept the pole vault by placing first, second, and third with vaults of 8’ 6”, 8’ 0”, and 7’ 6” ● The 4x800 relay team of Brinna Wenzel (senior), Zora Ziolkowski (junior), Sydney Baldwin (sophomore), and Ceci Bayer (senior captain), won with a time of 11:06.25 ● India Barney, senior captain, ran a season best of 16.88 to win the 100 hurdles ● Cailyn Jbara, senior, placed second in the 100 hurdles with a season best of 18.71 ● Teagan Hill, junior, placed second in the 200 with a time of 12.89 ● The 4x200 team of Melina King (sophomore), Ansley Ahlstrom (freshman), Ferrell, and Hill won with a season best time of 1:48.91 ● Ziolkowski ran a 5:59.98 in the 1600 to place third ● The 4x100 team of Barney, Ahlstrom, King, and Hill won with a season best time of 51.59 ● Barney ran another season best time of 51.51 to place second in the 300 hurdles ● Bayer placed second in the 800 with a time of 2:30.21 ● King won the 200 with a time of 26.62 Next up for Chelsea is the Chelsea Relays on Friday, April 17. This is a fun and unique invitational that Chelsea hosts at home.
