Varsity Baseball Splits a DH at Pinckney

By GameChanger Media Chelsea Varsity Baseball won big over Pinckney 17-2 on Monday in Game 1 at Pinckney Community High School. The Bulldogs got on the board in the top of the first inning after Preston Paoletti hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, an error scored one run, Lew Turner singled, scoring one run, Caden Basar singled, scoring one run, Nick Schultz homered to left field, scoring three runs, and an error scored one run. Chelsea extended their early lead with three runs in the top of the third thanks to RBI singles by Nolan Sciackitano and Tyson Linde. Paoletti earned the win for Chelsea. The starting pitcher surrendered five hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out nine and walking none. Joshua Carpenter took the loss for Pinckney. The hurler went two-thirds of an inning, giving up seven runs (one earned) on four hits, striking out none and walking two. Chelsea tallied 19 hits in the game. Paoletti provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Bulldogs with three runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Jax Ichesco led Chelsea with four hits in four at bats from the leadoff position. Turner, Sciackitano, Linde, and Schultz each collected multiple hits for Chelsea. Owen Zylka set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Pinckney with two hits in three at bats. Zach Cortez and Easton McGlothin were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Pinckney. Pinckney turned one double play in the game. In game 2, Nolan Sciackitano struck out 10 batters, but Chelsea fell to Pinckney 8-2 at Pinckney Community High School on Monday. Sciackitano gave up three hits and four runs over four and two-thirds innings while walking three. Pinckney were the first to get on the board in the first when Henry Taube doubled, scoring one run. A single by Jax Raymond extended the Pinckney lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning. Chelsea tied the game in the top of the fifth thanks to a sacrifice fly by Jax Ichesco, and a single by Sciackitano. Pinckney flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fifth, scoring six runs on four hits to take the lead, 8-2. The biggest blow in the inning was a dropped third strike that drove in two. Owen Zylka earned the win for Pinckney. The starter allowed five hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking two. Ichesco, Sciackitano, Tyson Linde, Wyatt Sisler, and Nathan Sobiechowski each collected one hit for the Bulldogs. Ichesco and Sciackitano were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Chelsea. The Bulldogs were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Linde had the most chances in the field with 11. Taube drove the middle of the lineup, leading Pinckney with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 2-for-4 on the day.
