Varsity Baseball Splits a DH at Trenton

By GameChanger Media Chelsea fell to Trenton 4-0 in game 1 on Saturday at Trenton High School. Trenton were the first to get on the board in the first when Easton Curry grounded out, scoring one run. Will Frost earned the win for Trenton. The hurler allowed three hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out five and walking two. Wyatt Matusik took the loss for Chelsea. The hurler went three and one-third innings, surrendering three runs (two earned) on three hits, striking out one and walking three. Preston Paoletti, Nick Schultz, and Nathan Sobiechowski each collected one hit for the Bulldogs. Zach LaMay went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Trenton in hits. Trenton were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. LaMay had the most chances in the field with five. In game 2, Chelsea defeated Trenton 20-1 thanks in part to 15 runs in the second inning. Preston Paoletti drew a walk, scoring one run, Lew Turner singled, scoring three runs, Parker Clark was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Nick Schultz singled, scoring two runs, Chris Szczechowski induced Jax Ichesco to hit into a fielder's choice, but two runs scored, an error scored one run, Wyatt Sisler singled, scoring three runs, Clark singled, scoring one run, and Cooper Adams singled, scoring one run. Chelsea got on the board in the top of the first inning after Nathan Sobiechowski singled down the right field line, and Clark walked, each scoring one run. A single by #15, and a fielder's choice by Sisler helped the Bulldogs extend their early lead in the third. Gus Herter earned the win for Chelsea. The starting pitcher surrendered one hit and one run (zero earned) over two innings, striking out two and walking none. Tony Fernandez took the loss for Trenton. The pitcher went one inning, giving up four runs on two hits, striking out one and walking four. Eli Edwards tossed one inning of shutout ball for the Bulldogs in relief. The hurler gave up zero hits, striking out one and walking none. Chelsea amassed 12 hits in the game. Paoletti, Turner, and Sobiechowski each collected two hits for the Bulldogs. Sisler and Clark were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in three runs. Sisler led Chelsea with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. Will Frost led Trenton with one hit in one at bat.
