Varsity Girls Water Polo Fall Short in Defensive Battle Against East Lansing
By Jason Morris | Apr 11, 2026 10:08 AM
The varsity girls water polo team kicked off the Mason Tournament with a grit-filled performance tonight, ultimately falling to East Lansing in a tight 5–3 contest. While the scoreboard didn't swing in favor of the Bulldogs, the match was a showcase of defensive intensity and individual brilliance. Standout Performance: Gabi Rudolph Despite the low-scoring affair, Gabi Rudolph was a force to be reckoned with on both ends of the pool. Rudolph accounted for the bulk of the Bulldogs' offensive production and was a nightmare for the East Lansing defense to contain. Her stat line for the night included: • Scoring: 2 goals, including a coolly converted penalty shot. • Drawing Fouls: Drew 3 exclusions and a penalty shot, consistently putting the opponent in difficult positions. • Defensive Prowess: Recorded 3 steals and a crucial field block. Looking Ahead The Bulldogs won’t have much time to dwell on the loss, as the Mason Tournament continues early tomorrow morning. The team is set for a double-header to wrap up the weekend: 1. Match 1: vs. Troy 2. Match 2: vs. Portage The Bulldogs will look to carry tonight's defensive energy into day two as they aim to climb the tournament standings. Good luck to the girls as they dive back into action!
