Chelsea Varsity Baseball Splits Season Opening DH with Lincoln

By GameChanger Media GAME 1: Even though Chelsea collected three hits to Lincoln's one, they still fell 5-3 on Wednesday. Wyatt Matusik, Wyatt Sisler, and Nolan Sciackitano each collected one hit for Chelsea. Lincoln jumped out to the lead in the top of the second inning after Oliver Klock drew a walk, scoring one run, Charlie Harding was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, and Vincenzo Miano hit a sacrifice fly, scoring two runs. Corbin Kern earned the win for Lincoln. The starting pitcher surrendered two hits and three runs (two earned) over six innings, striking out six and walking six. Sciackitano pitched five innings in relief for Chelsea Varsity Bulldogs. The hurler surrendered zero hits and one run (zero earned) while, striking out 10 and walking three. Matusik took the loss for the Bulldogs. The hurler went one inning, giving up four runs on one hit, striking out three and walking four. Conner Sindlinger earned the save. Jax Ichesco, Caden Basar, and Sciackitano each drove in one run for Chelsea. Ichesco led the Bulldogs with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up seven walks for the game. Klock, Harding, and Miano each drove in one run for Lincoln. Sindlinger led Lincoln with one hit in three at bats. Jackson Sullivan paced Lincoln with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game. GAME 2: Chelsea won big over Lincoln 10-2 in game 2. An error put Chelsea Varsity Bulldogs on the board in the bottom of the first. A double by Jax Ichesco, a single by Nolan Sciackitano, and an error helped Chelsea extend their early lead in the second. The Bulldogs increased their early lead with two runs in the bottom of the third thanks to RBI singles by Lew Turner and Ichesco. Lincoln scored two runs in the top of the fifth on a home run to right field by Mason Labadie. Preston Paoletti earned the win for Chelsea. The hurler allowed two hits and two runs over five innings, striking out six and walking one. Vincenzo Miano took the loss for Lincoln. The pitcher went four and two-thirds innings, allowing 10 runs (seven earned) on 10 hits, striking out four and walking five. Chelsea amassed 10 hits in the game. Ichesco set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading the Bulldogs with three hits in four at bats. Sciackitano went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Turner collected two hits for Chelsea in three at bats. The Bulldogs stole four bases in the game. Chelsea was sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Tyson Linde had the most chances in the field with seven. Labadie and Jackson Sullivan were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected one hit for Lincoln while hitting back-to-back. Labadie led Lincoln with two runs batted in. The right fielder went 1-for-2 on the day. The Bulldogs head back to Lincoln tomorrow to complete their three game series.
