Chelsea Softball Defeats Lincoln In High-Scoring Affair

By GameChanger Media GAME 1: There were runs aplenty on Wednesday, as Chelsea beat Lincoln 19-9. The Bulldogs collected 19 hits, while Lincoln had 12. Brooke Barlage collected three hits in five at bats in the win. Barlage hit a solo home run to left field in the fourth inning, singled in the fifth inning, and singled in the sixth inning. Lincoln jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Ava Greene tripled, scoring one run, and Bria Powell homered to left field, scoring two runs. Lincoln added to their early lead in the top of the second inning when an error scored one run, and Greene singled, scoring two runs. Chelsea flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the second, scoring nine runs on five hits to take the lead, 9-6. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to left field by Sasha Henriksen on a full count that drove in three. Chelsea added one run in the third after Peyton Myers walked. The Bulldogs added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on two hits. Barlage hit a solo home run to left field, and Kaydee Absher doubled, scoring one run. Chelsea scored five runs on six hits in the bottom of the fifth inning. Henriksen singled, scoring one run, Barlage singled, scoring one run, Ashley Sherwood doubled, scoring two runs, and Absher singled, scoring one run. Henriksen earned the win for Chelsea Varsity Bulldogs. The starting pitcher surrendered 12 hits and nine runs (eight earned) over six innings, striking out two and walking one. Allie Martin took the loss for Lincoln Varsity Softball. The starter went two and one-third innings, surrendering 12 runs on 14 hits, striking out none and walking three.
